Sailing

My interests include sailing
Sailing in the Sea of Cortez

I love work that feels like play and play that feels like work. Sailing is transformative for me. It has introduced me to places I never dreamed existed. It has also let me experience extreme relaxation and extreme terror. I don’t own a boat and probably never will. There are too many opportunities and benefits in renting bare-boats around the planet.

Transformational Media

I love the paradox of consciousness that accompanies a really great game and I love the idea that really great games can lead to dramatic changes in skill, knowledge, and attitude. I don’t believe that games could ever replace or completely revolutionize learning, but I see a natural place for them in learning due to the fact that they can create valuable teachable moments for the teacher and rich personal insights for the student.

Collaborative Community

I’m a born community builder. My favorite moments are when I can witness the spontaneous innovation and imagination that you can only find in group work. I use Facebook groups, Meetup and LinkedIn to draw upon the rich network of regional talent. I also foster creative workshops that pair clients and students for the purpose of exploring real-world challenges and hone rapid prototyping skills.

Rich Sustainability

I designed and installed a solar array on my home

Part of the nature that makes me a good sailor, camper, animator, and game developer is respect for efficiency. I can’t bear waste, whether it is time, money, or resources like energy. When I see inefficiencies I make it my business to find a better way without sacrificing satisfaction or comfort in the process.
